Yes, a real estate ISA is worth it for most agents and teams, as long as it books appointments you would not have booked yourself. The average listing-side commission is about $10,100, so one extra closed listing pays for most of a year of an outsourced ISA. An in-house ISA costs $45,000 to $75,000 a year and needs about 5 to 8 extra listings to break even.
What does a real estate ISA do?
An inside sales agent (ISA) makes the calls so your agents can go on appointments. The ISA prospects, qualifies, and books. The agent shows up and lists.
- Prospecting: expired listings, FSBOs, circle prospecting around your listings, and your past-client database.
- Qualifying: is the homeowner planning to sell, when, and at what price?
- Booking: putting the appointment on the right agent's calendar.
- Follow-up: calling back the homeowners who said "not yet".
The question is never whether those calls are worth making. It is whether paying someone else to make them costs less than the listings they produce.
What does a real estate ISA cost in 2026?
It depends on the model: hire one, rent one, or buy the appointments. Here is what each option costs, from each provider's own pages, checked November 3, 2026.
| Option | What it costs | Per year | Who manages the work |
|---|
| In-house ISA you hire | Salary plus bonus, payroll taxes, benefits, dialer, and data | $45,000 to $75,000 (our estimate, loaded) | You: recruiting, training, scripts, coaching, turnover |
| Hourly ISA virtual assistant | $8 to $15 an hour (Stealth Agents), about $1,280 to $2,400 a month full time | $15,360 to $28,800 | You direct the VA day to day |
| Your Best ISA (Ylopo partner) | $1,250 a month full time, 3-month first contract | $15k | You direct the ISA |
| MyOutDesk full-time ISA | From $1,988 a month | From $23,856 | You direct the ISA in your tools |
| Call Savvys (done for you) | $1,200 to $3,300 a month, dialer, QA, and CRM included | $14,400 to $39,600 | We do: callers, QA, replacements, reporting |
Staffed and hourly options usually leave the dialer, data, and CRM on your bill. For the full breakdown, see real estate ISA cost in 2026, or the full comparison of the best real estate ISA companies.
How many listings does an ISA need to pay for itself?
Divide what the ISA costs in a year by your commission per listing. That is how many extra closed listings you need to break even.
| Option | Cost per year | Listings to break even |
|---|
| In-house ISA | $45,000 to $75,000 | About 5 to 8 |
| MyOutDesk full-time ISA | From $23,856 | About 3 |
| Your Best ISA, full time | $15k | About 2 |
| Call Savvys Starter | $14,400 | About 2 |
Run it with your own numbers: your average commission after split, and how many held appointments it takes you to win one listing. If an ISA books 15 appointments a month and you list even a small share of them, the math clears fast.
When is an ISA worth it?
- You have leads or a database nobody is calling. Old leads and past clients are the cheapest listings you will ever get.
- Prospecting is the first thing that slips. When you are busy closing, nobody dials, and next quarter's pipeline dries up.
- Your agents are idle. On a team, agents with empty calendars leave. Appointments keep them.
- You would rather be on listing appointments. An hour in front of a seller is worth more than an hour of dialing.
When is an ISA not worth it?
- You cannot take more listings. If your calendar is already full, more appointments will not help.
- You will not show up fast. An appointment is only worth something if an agent follows up on it.
- You only need inbound answering. If you just need calls answered, an answering service fits better than an outbound ISA.
How should you measure an ISA?
Track held appointments and listings, not dials. Dials and conversations show effort. Held appointments and signed listings show return.
| Metric | Why it matters |
|---|
| Held appointments a month | Booked appointments that actually happened |
| Cost per held appointment | Monthly cost divided by held appointments |
| Appointments to listings | How many appointments it takes your agents to list one |
| Listings per month from the ISA | The number that pays for the ISA |
Ask any ISA provider for daily reports on all four. Call Savvys sends daily KPI reports on every plan.
Hire, rent, or buy the appointments?
Hiring gives you control, and all the work. Recruiting, training, scripts, and turnover are yours. Renting a staffed ISA removes the payroll but you still manage the person. Buying appointments moves the management and the volume risk to the provider.
That last part matters most. A staffed ISA costs the same whether the month books 5 appointments or 25. With a written guarantee, a slow month is the provider's problem, not yours. See how our guarantee works.
